How it all started?
I started working with leather right after university, and I haven't left the workbench since. Leather is a by-product of the food industry, which is already an excellent resource. When paired with vegetable tanning, we have a durable material that's also biodegradable at the end of its long life cycle, which is truly bliss.
I was asked endlessly about leather by friends and relatives, with questions like, "Is this real leather?" "Where is the leather from?" and "How do I care for my leather bag"? I saw the frustration regarding leather goods, and I came to understand how people feel about the uncertainties associated with this truly amazing material.
Some years ago, I wanted to gift a functional bag to two very supportive friends, so I took a classic design and tweaked it, making it easy to wear and practical. And that answered all of those questions.
Now, almost six Christmases later, I'm ready to take the bag out of my circle and offer the first 20 units; however, saying that there is only me behind this would not be fair.
The legends supporting me
Without the support of these legends, who came together to help me, it would not have been possible to reach this stage, and these amazing little bags of mine would have never seen the light of day. So, it's time to give thanks.
To Simon at Ed Tanner, for allowing me to use his workshop mezzanine in Primrose Hill, providing a space for me to work on this project, offering support and always be willing to listen.
To Finn, for being the first-ever customer, for providing positive encouragement, and for taking the weight of the photoshoot off my shoulders. You can check his BAFTA-nominated short here.
To Georgia, aka the "Shaman" (a title she earned at an independent festival in Somerset) for modelling alongside my long-distance motorbike touring companion Tobias on one of his classics, two wheels.
To Chess for being behind the graphics and social media, to Miriam for sewing the dust bags on her narrowboat in the Midlands, and to all my mates for the support needed to launch this project.
